
SUMMER Hill resident and historian Dr Shirleene Robinson, president of Sydney's Pride History Group, was among inner west locals recognised on this year's Queen's Birthday Honours List. Dr Robinson, who is also director of Marriage Equality Australia, was awarded an Order of Australia (AM) for her service to the LGBTIQ community, to marriage equality, and to history.
Dr Timothy Wright of Marrickville, who was the headmaster of SHORE School in North Sydney for 17 years, was recognised for service to primary and secondary education, and to professional associations. He worked at Trinity Grammar School in Summer Hill from 1986 to 1992, as an assistant master, housemaster, boarding master and second master.

Professor Deborah Brennan of Balmain was recognised for her service to social policy research, gender equality and tertiary education, She is one of Australia's leading researchers in comparative welfare, family policy and gender and politics.
Enmore local Darren Dick received a Public Service Medal for outstanding public service in research and policy development across a range of human rights areas, including in the rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders, children, asylum seekers, and culturally and linguistically diverse communities.
Mr Dick has led the Australian Human Rights Commission's policy, research and advocacy functions, and developed the precursor of the Close the Gap reforms which remains the leading program initiative in Indigenous Affairs.
Paul McQueen, who lives in Haberfield, received an Emergency Service Medal for his work at the NSW State Emergency Service. In 1994, Mr Paul McQueen joined the SES as a volunteer. He continues to be an active member and over the years has attended many major operational events and deployments throughout NSW and interstate. He is currently a volunteer member of the Metro Capability Southern Unit.
