An exquisite family-focused haven of extraordinary privacy, style and space, this stunning double-fronted residence has quite a rich history and was one owned by the Mayor of Ashfield.
Jay King, lead agent at Harris Tripp Summer Hill said, "The residence fuses period elements with a wonderfully designed extension at the rear. Features include fireplaces, high ceilings, timber floorboards, abundance of natural light and secure parking."
Following a Heritage Study that was conducted on the property it was found that the land was originally purchased by John Lapish on June 16, 1893.
Mr Lapish was a builder, council building inspector, alderman and finally Mayor of Ashfield in 1932 and 1933.
The property is one of the few known Ashfield examples of a entrepreneurial dwelling known as a "build two, rent one" consisting of a semi-detached pair of unequal houses, with No. 42 being twice as wide as No. 44.
Mr Lapish sold No. 42 in 1915 but No. 44 remained in his ownership until his death in 1934.
Today the property enjoys ultra-stylishly refreshed interiors creating an impressive oasis of immediate appeal, incredible warmth and timeless charm.
There is a huge casual family room with bookcases and gas fireplace and the designer kitchen has a seven-burner gas cooktop and steel bench.
The home has three oversized bedrooms plus a lounge or fourth bedroom.
"It is in a premier tree-lined street with a lovely neighbourly feel, footsteps from Pratten Park and a short walk to Ashfield train station, Ashfield Mall and other local amenities," Jay said. "Convenience meets comfort."
