Kindness rules at new Stanmore co-working space

"The inner west is where our people are," said Bambuddha Group founder and CEO Anna Sheppard.

"It's one of the more progressive areas of the city, with people who have a more open-minded approach and focus on social responsibility. It's a hub for innovation and the creative thinking we need to solve those problems in the world.

"A lot of coworking hubs create a fabricated sense of community while ours starts and ends with community. Coming in to work in our space and using a desk or having an office, you also get access to leadership coaching and training which helps scale your business. It's not just about sitting in the space and having a beer and playing ping pong, it's about actual development and connection and improving opportunities."

The "unique" community business hub which opened earlier this month on Parramatta Road, includes desks, private offices and boardrooms for hire as well as an event space, podcast studio and media studio. For every paid customer, Bambuddha pays 50 per cent of the profit forward to enable underrepresented community groups to access the space and its media services.

"This initiative is one of our many which cares about amplifying the voices of underrepresented business leaders and owners, through an affordable coworking community," said Ms Sheppard.

"I've got several sisters with disabilities, I'm neurodiverse and I'm gay, and I went into the care system as a kid - all of the things that make you not fit in - and the places where I've thrived and done well in life are places like The Working Kind Collective and Bambuddha where you can have access to opportunity no matter what your background."
