It's been a wet week and the weekend weather isn't looking much better, but don't fret, there's still plenty to enjoy around the inner west this weekend.
Theatres are in full swing, cultural festivals are back and art galleries are showcasing some amazing local talent. From Peruvian folk music to plant sales, here's a selection of what's happening in our local area this weekend.
Experience Peru
Marrickville
Marrickville Town Hall will be brought to life this weekend in a one day event showcasing the rich heritage and culture of Peru. Now in its 6th year, the Rhythms, Colours, Flavours of Peru Festival is the longest running community event celebrating Peruvian live music, dance, fine food and culture in NSW.
One of the festival's organisers, Lidia Luna, said after the number of delays they faced the musicians are glad to finally be able to perform and everyone's feeling "a sense of relief" that the celebration can go ahead.
"I arrived in Australia when I was 13 and the festival has been an outlet for me to continue to learn more about Peru," she said.
"As part of the festival we always try to feature new things which come from Peru whether that's storytelling, textiles or food or music. "
Canberra-based ensemble Chicharrita Club will perform in Sydney for the first time at the festival. They perform Chica music, which Ms Luna describes as "infectious, tropical, melodic, guitar driven sounds". Duo Jimenez who play folkloric Andean music will also be back to perform at the festival.
"A lot of people might not know that Peru is actually a very big mix of different cultures," she said.
"We have the coast, the Andes and the Amazons. So it's very varied. Even though it's within one country we have our own interpretations of cuisines, sounds and textiles."
If food is more your thing, Peruvian chef Jorge Chacon will showcase some traditional recipes and teach you how to make the perfect Pisco Sour- an iconic Peruvian cocktail. Andina Peruvian Cuisine will also be serving up delicious Peruvian food all day.
Unfortunately the folkloric dance usually showcased at the festival will not go ahead this year due to COVID-19 social distancing requirements. Tickets to the festival cost $20 at the door or $15 if bought online. Entry for children under 16 years old is free.

We bleed the same
Annandale
As part of the Head On Photo Festival local photographer Tim Bauer and curator Liz Jones will showcase their exhibition, "We Bleed The Same". They describe the exhibition as "a progressive account of racism in the 21st century, beginning it's journey in Australia through the lens of First Nations people followed by immigrants and refugees." The exhibition features 32 portraits of people from varied backgrounds, races and religions who are fighting for a more inclusive and equitable society. Their moving stories are told through the portraits and on film. The exhibition, which is on display at the Tim Bauer Studio Gallery, will close on Sunday.
