Clever in Collaroy
This very fun and successful piece of community art (pictured) has been instigated by a clever, retired, preschool director friend of mine, Katy Jenkins of Collaroy, and her creative grandchildren during lockdown. It started with a few wooden spoons they decorated and put on display on the footpath and grew as others added to Spoonville. So many kids and adults of all ages have been involved! Libby Stanton-Cook, Collaroy
Save the ferries
It's extraordinary that any politician would touch our iconic ferries. Yet MP Andrew Constance dared to do so! The Manly ferry is part and parcel of our harbour. The two small replacement ferries don't have wheelchair access, can't pass the Heads in bad weather and can't go up the Parramatta River! The recent campaign to save them had 25,000 signatures. Please log onto "Save the Manly Ferries". Write to Rob Stokes. Your voice counts. And, if there's a consortium of wealthy entrepreneurs out there, please help us convert them over to electric. Patricia Fry, Newport
We want S.W.A.T.
I wondered why the S.W.A.T. team is only transforming Manly and Queenscliff (NBR, October 20-26), when those of us living in all other suburbs of the Northern Beaches Council area would love to welcome them too, to do their magical works! Do we need to provide a hop on, hop off bus for them, perhaps, to qualify? We'll have one of those too, please. Marianne van de Voorde, North Narrabeen
Quiz questers
I live in Warriewood and love getting your magazine every week. During the COVID lockdown the 50 quiz questions were a life saver and my wife and I would do them in the evening. Love your work and keep it going. Anthony Rous, Warriewood
Thank you so much for reinstating the quiz. My son and I play tennis every week, followed by lunch and the quiz in the park. It's terrific and we learn something new every time. Long may your lovely mag continue, including the quiz! Joanna Holmes, address not supplied
Race of our lives
The COP26 is the Olympics of climate action but as our prime minister said, he doesn't like races. Over 70 per cent of Australians know climate action is the most important race of our lives. Instead of being a disgrace, let's be ahead in this race. Our world is depending on us. Catherine Willis, Manly
Vaccination clarity
Generally your reports on COVID deaths do not advise whether those unfortunate people were vaccinated or not. If not vaccinated such info should be newsworthy as it is an excellent reason to be vaccinated. By not detailing this information your editorial message is being used by anti-vaxxers who are implying that all the deaths (and hospital admissions) are of vaccinated patients which is only adding concern, as to what to do, to those not vaccinated. Bruce Polain, Balgowlah
Help for women
As we emerge from lockdown, many women who are victims of domestic violence may finally find space to reach out for help. For these women, lockdown was a living nightmare with no respite from the perpetrator. At Women & Children First, it is very timely that we are reaching out to ask people on the northern beaches to Walk for Women and Children in November. You can register for the event at www.womensrefuge.org.au. Katinga Schroeder, Women & Children First
